“You are so helpful and in so many different ways.”
— Parent of ADHD Child

“Kate has been an invaluable resource for my husband and me as we navigate supporting our son, who has ADHD, in college. Our son was struggling with leaving home for the first time without any structure. He was at a very big college and needed help navigating this major transition. Kate’s guidance has helped us regroup as parents and better understand how we can be there for him during this pivotal time. Her insightful approach has made a world of difference in how we communicate and work together as a family. Our son is now thriving, and we are incredibly grateful for Kate’s support and expertise!”

-Parent of college student

“You have always been such an amazing resource for my son. Truly, we wouldn’t have had the support we had for him if it weren’t for you. Truly grateful for your role in his success.”

– parent of a recent high school graduate

“I just found your podcast and was listening during my commute. Came home to find my son had failed reading assessment. I calmed myself stress and worry by repeating the title of your podcast and hearing the story in episode #77. Thank you,”

“Hey! I recently found your podcast and it is really the best.”

“Thank you for your podcast. It has been very helpful.”

“Your podcast has given me so much peace as well as great ideas. Thanks again.”

“My wife sent me your podcast. We have a 9 yr old daughter with ADHD and it’s been a struggle. I spent 15 mins in tears thinking about all the times I’ve raised my voice at her for things she can’t control. It’s so stressful but it’s her superpower. She’s a Ferrari with Honda brakes. This was helpful. Thank you.”

“I just wanted to thank you for all the great work you do, I love your podcasts, I learn a lot from them and they give me hope! Our 12 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD in Dec. 2022, since then I’m on this learning journey to be able to understand him and support him better and to advocate for him. THANK YOU!”

“I just wanted to reach out and say thank you. Your book has been such an amazing resource and guide for our 7 year old son’s ADHD diagnosis. The book is digestible, relatable, actionable and informative. In all my research, newsletters, podcasts, reading etc nothing has spoken to me more than your book. Your family is an inspiration to us. I continually reference it and reread it. Thank you for being so open about your journey!”

“My wife appreciates your book so much. It sits on her nightstand and she refers to it often. It’s been so helpful.”

Supporting Parents of ADHD Kids

A Family Stands Together In A Serene Forest, Smiling For A Photo Amidst The Lush Greenery And Tall Trees.

About Me

Over 20 years ago, I decided to stop the negative stories of raising kids with ADHD, educate myself, create a plan, and advocate for my child with ADHD. My firsthand experience inspired me to write a book about my parenting journey, start a podcast championing the support and empowerment of mothers and fathers like me, and pursue a profession as an ADHD parenting coach. Thus, ADHD Kids Can Thrive was founded.

Hi, I’m Kate Brownfield, certified ADHD and Executive Function Parent Coach, author, podcast host, and parent who has lived this journey firsthand.

For more than 20 years, I have been learning, advocating, and growing in the world of ADHD through both personal experience and professional training. I know how overwhelming it can feel to raise a child with ADHD when the usual advice does not fit, school challenges keep piling up, and family life starts revolving around stress, conflict, or uncertainty.

I am the author of How We Roll: A Parent’s Journey on Raising a Child with ADHD, host of The ADHD Kids Can Thrive Podcast, and I support parents through coaching, education, and community so they can better understand their child, respond with more steadiness, and lead their families with more clarity and hope.

My training includes a 60-hour Professional Coach Training Program, a 23-hour Trauma-Informed Coach Certification through Coach Training World, and 36 hours of Professional ADHD Parent Coach Training through PTS Coaching. All of my training has been completed with ICF-certified trainers, and I am currently completing my ICF ACC certification.

My approach is whole-person and family-centered. I help parents understand the child underneath the behavior, support executive functioning, strengthen connection, reduce shame, and become more grounded and effective in how they lead at home, at school, and in the hardest moments.

At the heart of all of my work is this belief:

ADHD kids can thrive.
And when parents have the right support, they can too.

My Mission

To coach, teach, and support parents raising kids with ADHD, helping them envision a brighter path forward.

My Heartfelt Message for You

If you are a parent of an ADHD child, you’ve likely heard or said things like the following:

  • Kids will outgrow it.
  • That child is lazy, crazy, stupid, spacey, acting out on purpose.
  • Meds will solve it.
  • The pediatrician says to come back later, and we will see.
  • Parents wonder what to ask for.
  • Parents say my kid is NOT taking medication.
  • No matter what, he can’t turn in his homework.
  • Wow, that parent can’t control their kid.

As a mother of a child with ADHD, I understand these challenges deeply. That is why I want to say that you are not alone. Parents raising kids with ADHD need each other on this unique journey. Always remember that ADHD parenting is not about just surviving. It’s about thriving and helping your child turn their challenges into opportunities for growth.
